GastroGenius Challenge – WEGE 2025
We were honored to be given the platform at WEGE 2025, women empowerment in GI endoscopy, to introduce the GastroGenius Challenge – our gamified gastroenterology learning app designed for gastroenterologists, trainees, internists, and specialists.
The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, showing strong interest and recognition of the app as an additional tool for continuing education in the GI field. We are proud that this innovative format was met with such enthusiasm and support.
Taking part in WEGE 2025 was particularly meaningful for us, as the congress stands for Diversity, Equality, and Integrity – values that we deeply share and actively support.
With the GastroGenius Challenge, we aim to empower medical professionals with an engaging, interactive way to expand their knowledge and training in gastroenterology
About the WEGE Congress
The WEGE 2025 event, Women Empowerment in GI Endoscopy, took place in September in Cairo, Egypt. It is the only endoscopic congress dedicated to women in the field and stands firmly for the values of Diversity, Equality, and Integrity. As a hybrid event, it aims to empower young and aspiring endoscopists — particularly women — by providing hands-on experience, mentorship, leadership training, and fostering greater inclusion in endoscopy. The congress brought together more than 500 participants and over 50 international faculty members, creating a unique and inspiring platform for professional exchange and advancement in gastroenterology.

GastroGenius Challenge a new E-learning tool
GastroGenius Challenge, an interactive gastroenterology learning app. The app offers thousands of interactive gastroenterology questions based on scientific literature and reviewed by experts, combining the best of a study bank with the excitement of peer challenges. By learning gastroenterology through gamified quizzes, studying becomes active, engaging, and motivating.
GastroGenius Challenge’s Contribution to the Event
The WEGE 2025 congress offered the ideal platform to demonstrate how the GastroGenius Challenge supports modern medical education through flexible, interactive, and evidence-based learning. The app allows users to study flexibly from their mobile devices, providing a comprehensive gastroenterology review and training for physicians and residents. Additionally, it supports continuous professional development for healthcare professionals, helping them enhance medical knowledge in a fun and effective way.
By integrating gamification in medical education, the app encourages learners to challenge themselves, track their progress, and reinforce their understanding through scientifically validated explanations. Participants at the event had the opportunity to see how interactive questions, peer challenges, and progress tracking can make gastroenterology learning more efficient and enjoyable.

Testimonials from Participants
Event participants highlighted the importance of initiatives like GastroGenius Challenge in promoting interactive learning and collaboration among healthcare professionals.
“It’s great to have a tool that makes learning enjoyable — I had fun using it and still came away with new knowledge, without feeling overwhelmed,” commented one gastroenterology resident.
Many attendees expressed enthusiasm about incorporating gamified learning into their daily training routines, emphasizing that such apps not only improve knowledge retention but also motivate learners to continue developing professionally.

Participating in the event also allowed participants to experience first-hand the benefits of GastroGenius Challenge as a tool for medical education and continuous learning:
- Constant motivation through challenges, points, and rewards.
- Improved retention of medical concepts, thanks to immediate feedback.
- Flexible study from any location, at any time, using a mobile device.
- Active learning, where learners analyze, compare, and reflect instead of passively memorizing.
- Healthy competition, fostering personal growth and collaborative learning.
- Personalized study paths, adapting to each user’s weaknesses and areas for improvement.
These advantages demonstrate that the app is not only a question bank but also a powerful tool for continuous professional development, ideal for both medical students and practicing physicians.

Conclusion: Advancing Gastroenterology Education
We are truly grateful for the opportunity to present the GastroGenius Challenge at WEGE 2025 and to introduce our learning app to the professional community. We strongly believe in the values this congress represents — Diversity, Equality, and Integrity — and we are proud to stand behind them.
Medical training today faces challenges of acceptance, accessibility, and time constraints. Our professional lives are busier than ever: complex procedures, high patient volumes, administrative responsibilities, and the demands of personal life. E-learning tools can help us adapt our ongoing education to these realities. During the early 2020s, in the pandemic, digital learning shifted from optional to essential. Webinars, virtual courses, and interactive platforms rapidly expanded, and even medical congresses became accessible online. Today, in the post-pandemic world, e-learning is here to stay. As the WHO stated: “Technological learning tools have experienced exponential growth, significantly altering how health workers are educated and how they deliver care.”
Scientific evidence shows that e-learning is most effective when interactive, flexible, and home accessible, leading to improved outcomes especially among motivated learners (Delungahawatta et al., 2022).
With the GastroGenius Challenge, we aim to contribute to this evolving field — providing a playful, interactive tool that helps overcome barriers in medical education while aligning with the shared mission of advancing diversity, equality, and integrity. By combining scientifically validated content, interactive challenges, and progress tracking, GastroGenius Challenge transforms gastroenterology study from a traditional passive experience into a dynamic, engaging, and effective learning journey.
